Ephesians 6:16-17 KJV – Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

It says the word of God is the “sword of the Spirit”.  But what is this sword?

1 Thessalonians 2:13 KJV - For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

The word of God cannot be heard as a person (i.e. man) would speak or hear, nor are they the words of a person.  The word of God is not the literal words on a page as man would write. But the word of God rather acts as a spiritual sword that cuts through the words. It “worketh in you” and is not the words because it is spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV - For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God is a sword that is sharper than any other double-edged sword. A sword is used to cut but also is typically used to kill or defend someone or something. The sword of the Spirit is so powerful it can kill you which metaphorically means to completely change you, to “kill” the old person to allow for the new. This sword is “twoedged” which from Strong’s Concordance means to have a double mouth. A double mouth or two-edged sword means there are two-sides to the words, or two interpretations of the words. And it is sharper than any other word from a split tongue. There is always two sides to a story but determining which is truth must be done by the sharpest dual edge (i.e. Spirit). The duller two-edged sword are the words of man, the words on the page written by man, but the Spirit will cut through it to the real truth.  But remember;

1 John 4:1-4 KJV - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The Spirit of the Word of God will separate your soul from the spirit (i.e. false spirits) because it is sharper than any other spirit even to the “dividing asunder of soul and spirit”.  It will help you test the understanding of your spirit. You see, the Spirit of God can separate you from a spirit of error. And it says “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world”.  If you “confess” that Jesus Christ is rather “come in the flesh” [instead of into the world], if you confess that “greater is he that is in you” than the one in the world, you have already overcome the one that comes or is to come into the world and that false spirit (understanding) of the carnal mind(s) that deceives the world.  And it says if you cannot confess that he is come in the flesh, which is to say he does not come into your body into your flesh, but you instead agree with the spirit of the “antichrist” which says it (he) will come into the world [and even already is here or has been here…], than you are in error.  You see the antichrist(s) is the one that comes into the world. The true Spirit of the Word, the true “Jesus Christ” is the one that only comes into you, into your mind, into your body, into your “flesh”.  (also again see Col 1:27)  And 1 John chapter 4 is a prime example of how these ancient scriptures are written with a double mouth, a two-edge sword that has two meanings. You decide which one is truth through your spirit, but they cannot both be the real truth as this example shows. The spiritual interpretation completely dissolves the carnal understanding in 1 John 4 because the sword of the Spirit divides the word to the truth.  The Word of God works in you because “Jesus Christ” (Jehovah is salvation) is God in you.

Hebrews 11:3 KJV - Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

You see the world or this age is framed; from Strong’s Concordance “framed means adjusted, corrected, fixed, restored.  This world is restored to truth by the word of God, the sword (words) of the Spirit; so that we can truly understand that the things that we see are not made from the things that we do see.

1 Peter 1:23 KJV - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The word of God is alive, alive for ever. And remember it works in you because it is a wisdom and anointing (i.e. Christ) within you.

Revelation 19:13 KJV - And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Blood represents one’s life and one’s death, and this Word of God causes both death and life by its Sword. Because the Spirit of the Word has the power to kill like a sword. It kills the carnal ego mind with the “sword of the Spirit” so that the Spirit of truth may live.

Genesis 3:24 KJV - So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

1 Corinthians 15:46, 50-51 KJV - Howbeit that [was] not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. ... Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed…

The sword keeps the way of the tree of life. It helps us find “the way” by its turning and twisting of the words of carnal man into Spiritual understanding, from the natural to the spiritual.  The death of the natural to the life of the Spirit because once the Spirit comes it awakes you out of “sleep” and literally changes you to a newly minded person. This sword that turns and twists the words and which keeps the way cannot be seen by the carnal sleeping mind.

Romans 8:7 KJV - Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

John 1:1, 5 KJV - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The carnal mind comprehends it not. A sleeping eye cannot see the light.
